The website I have selected is the  Zero To Three: National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and Families. Here is the link http://www.zerotothree.org/.

What They Do

Zero To Three works to ensure that babies and toddlers benefit from the family and connections critical to their well-being and development. Healthy connections help babies brains.

Since 1977, Zero To Three has advanced the proven power of nurturing relationships by transforming early childhood science into hopeful resources, practical tools, and responsive policies for millions of parents, professional and policymakers.

Zero To Three plays a key role in ensuring that babies and toddlers get a strong start in life by supporting parents with practical resources that helps them correct more positively, deeply and continuously with their babies:

  • Professionals with knowledge and tools that help them support healthy early development.
  • Policymakers in advancing comprehensive and coherent policies which support and strengthen families, caregivers and infant toddlers professionals.

The site has many topics to explore—issues/trends in Early Development, Early Learning, Parenting and Policy & Advocacy. Besides, individuals can view a list of services such as Professional Development support and resources such as available to users.

The latest from the Professional Resource:

Matthew Melmed, the executive director of Zero To Three, stated in the article Zero To Three: Condemns Hate Against the Asian America and Pacific Islander Community, dated March 19, 2021, "Every baby deserves a strong start in life. And every baby﹘and their loved ones—deserves to live in a world free of hatred and violence" (Zero To Three, 2021).

There has been a series of hate crimes against women worldwide, and Asian women and their families are not being spared. The destruction is a result of hate, anti-Asian discrimination, misogyny and race-injustice. The incident occurred at a salon in Atlanta, Georgia. At the time of this release, 6 of the 8 victims were Asians and 2 were white. As educators, we must advocate for equality and equity for all, both immigrant and non-immigrant.

According to Rebecca Parlakian, author of my second article, Celebrating Differences: Antiracist Parenting Right from the Start, read on March 18, 2021. the article speaks to how children, as long as they are not too young for topics such as anti-racism, justice and equity. Besides, our race and ethnicity determine who we are, and give a sense of pride and belonging. Also, children adopt from their environment so it is crucial that parents instill in them positive values  and avoid racial or discriminating comments which fosters hate and segregation. Children must be allow to attend schools that caters to inclusiveness

I have learn that "Hate" crimes have a broader effect than most other kinds of crime. Hate crime victims include not only the intended target but also others like them. Hate crimes affect families, crimes affect families, communities, and at times the entire nation.

  1. Hello Sherida!
I selected Zero to Three as well, and I like it. I agree with you that children learn from what they observe in their environment and imitate actions. I also agree with you that parents must instill positive values in their children and avoid racial or discriminatory comments that foster hatred and segregation. We have to serve as role models for children and encourage respect and kindness.

It is so important for organizations that have our children's best interests in mind to speak up and be advocates about the awful issues that are happening today. I also admire that this organization is taking such a crucial time in a child's life and helping anyone that is involved int heir life to ensure them a safe and healthy development.

  3. Hi Sherida!
Thanks for sharing. This looks like a great resource to go to. I agree with Rebecca Parlakian, in her article saying children, are not too young for topics such as anti-racism, justice and equity. Children are already exposed more than we think, to people's preferences and attitudes with regards to other people and it is always best to teach them the right attitudes than to allow society to make that decision for them.
